Pursuant to Illinois State Statutes [10 ILCS 5/7-12(3), 10-6(4)], Aurora Township’s main office at 80 N. Broadway, Aurora, will serve as the filing location for candidates participating in the February 23, 2021 primary election for the following township positions:
Staff will be available to receive the nomination packets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday November 16 through Friday November 20, 2020.
The Aurora Township offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday November 23, 2020, the final day to file nomination packets.
Staff is not permitted to provide any guidance to candidates or their representatives. A Candidate’s Guide for the 2021 elections is available at the State Board of Elections website.
Candidates will receive a receipt for all papers filed.
Once the receipt is issued, no changes can be made to the nomination packet. There is one exception to this rule: A candidate may add the receipt for the “Statement of Economic Interests” that is to be filed with the Kane County Clerk. The deadline to add this receipt to your nomination packet is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2020.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, only two people with nominating petitions will be allowed in the office at a time. The sidewalk outside the office is also marked in order to encouraging social distancing.
Staff will conduct a touchless temperature screening on all persons who come in the office and ask that you fill out a short health assessment to reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure. Masks are required for all people in the office.
All persons in line outside the office with nominating petitions at 8:30 a.m. Monday November 16 will be entered into a lottery for ballot positions if necessary. The lottery will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday December 2, 2020, at the Aurora Township main offices, 80 N. Broadway, Aurora.
