Town Meeting Suspended

Pursuant to Governor Pritzker Executive Order 2020-20 which addresses the Annual Town Meeting scheduled for April 14, 2020, the Aurora Township Annual Town Meeting is hereby postponed.

The order specifically states the following:

Section1: The provisions of the township Code, 60 ILCS 1/30-5(a) and 30-5(b), requiring that each township’s annual meeting for calendar year 2020 be held on either April 14, 2020 or April 21,2020 are SUSPENDED through the duration of the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation.

The annual town meeting requires participation of at least 10 residents who are registered voters in order to conduct business, said Aurora Township Supervisor Bill Catching.

“We very much appreciate Governor Pritzger’s emergency order which gives us the ability to delay this meeting,” Catching said. “If he had not taken this action, we would have had to call a meeting that goes contrary to earlier statewide emergency orders which prohibit gatherings of more than 10 people.

“We look forward to a better time when we can hold this meeting that best represents grassroots democracy.”

The public hearing on the Aurora Township Town Budget and Road District Budgets will be held as scheduled at 4:30 p.m. at the Youth Center as well as the Board of Trustee meeting at 5 p.m. also at the Youth Center.
