Seeking township Clerk Applicants

Aurora Township is seeking applicants to fill the remaining term of former Aurora Township Clerk Reginald N. Campbell, who was appointed an Associate Judge in the 16th Judicial Circuit earlier this month. The township Clerk is clerk of the town board of trustees and is official keeper of all records except for active General and Emergency Assistance cases. The Clerk is required to keep accurate records of all Town Board meetings and also serves as ex-oficio clerk of the Road District. The clerk must be present for bid openings for both the township and road district. By state law, candidates to fill this vacancy must be a registered Democrat living in Aurora Township. Persons are considered a “registered Democrat” if they voted in the last Democratic primary election. Interested candidates are asked to submit their resumes with a cover letter no later than 4 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020 to the Aurora Township main office, 80 N. Broadway, Aurora, IL 60505. The township Board intends to select a new township Clerk at the regularly scheduled meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday August 27, 2020, at the Aurora Township Youth Center, 313 Gale Street, Aurora. Prospective candidates will be offered an opportunity to make a brief presentation. The township Board sought to fill this vacancy in April but only one candidate applied. The board decided to postpone the search because it was felt that the COVID-19 pandemic and the Governor’s emergency order had discouraged interested persons from applying.
