Nuisance Ordinance

The Aurora Township Ordinance to abate nuisances (junk, trash, weeds, inoperable vehicles) is enforced in unincorporated areas of Aurora Township by the township code enforcement officer.

The Aurora Township Nuisance Ordinance prohibits the keeping of inoperable or unlicensed vehicles on residential premises. The following are also prohibited: junk, trash, refuse, and weeds or grass over 8” inches on any premises in the unincorporated areas of Aurora Township.

The Aurora Township Code Enforcement Office investigates complaints regarding violations of the township Nuisance Ordinance. Violations of the township Nuisance Ordinance, if not cured within 10 days after notice, will be abated by the township and the cost will be charged to the owner of the property.

For complaints about junk, trash, inoperable or unlicensed vehicles or weeds and grass over 8” inches in height, please call the Aurora Township Code Enforcement Office at 630-897-8777.

Complaints about junk cars may also be directed to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Community Policing Southeast Substation at 630-851-4670.

For complaints about possible occupancy violations, zoning violations, building code violations, or property maintenance call the Kane County Zoning Department at 630-232-3492.

Complaints about Health Code violations may be directed to the Kane County Health Department at 630-208-3801. Criminal or traffic violations in the unincorporated areas of Aurora Township should be reported to the Kane County Sheriff at 630-232-6840 or call 911.
