Highway Commissioner Vacancy

The Aurora Township Board of Trustees is seeking a Highway Commissioner to be appointed to complete the remaining term of office left by Juan Reyna.

Commissioner Reyna resigned for personal reasons late last month. The current term expires May 18, 2025.

The duties of the Highway Commissioner include maintenance and repair of roads and bridges in the unincorporated areas of Aurora Township. It is considered a full-time position with a salary of $81,016 and eligibility for all benefits.

To be considered for the position, a candidate must be a registered Democrat currently living in the Aurora Township for the past year. State law defines a person as a registered Democrat for this purpose if they voted a Democratic ballot in the most recent primary election.

Interested candidates can drop off their resumes and a letter of interest at the Aurora Township Office located at 80 N. Broadway, Aurora. All applications must be submitted no later than 4 p.m. Tuesday December 7.

Applicants are encouraged to attend the Thursday Dec. 9 Board of Trustees meeting at the Youth Center, 313 Gale St., Aurora, where it is anticipated that the board will choose a new commissioner.
